ACTION LEARNING POWERS PERFORMANCE

This unique approach to learning features participants taking action to improve their own performance and that of their organisations.  WHILE they are doing this they reflect on their experiences and learn from the process.  It is LEARNING BY DOING in the workplace where the individual’s job becomes the “laboratory of learning”.  Action Learning involves working on real time problems, on defining and implementing solutions that can lead to measurable improvements in performance.

We take the view that management development programmes must add value to organisations and be judged in business terms.  They must lead to outputs that can be identified and measured.  For example, do they lead to a more clearly defined business strategy, is this strategy cascaded effectively, do they lead to improved working practices?  This Action Learning programme will focus on these OUTPUTS not on its INPUTS.  It will be seen as an investment in the organisation, not as a cost.

Enhancing performance requires TAKING ACTION to improve existing processes and individual behaviour.  Therefore, the focus of management development should be on PROCESS IMPROVEMENT and MODIFYING PERSONAL BEHAVIOUR.  Programmes should be tailored to the needs of the client organisations and the individual participants.  They should be focused on what managers have TO DO to improve performance.
